Course Description:

This highly sought course will provide the student(s) with the information, knowledge and skills required to evaluate, process, collect and gather the information, data and physical evidence necessary for the reconstruction of a shooting incident. This class includes a LIVE fire demonstration with practical work stations and classroom lecture.

Who should attend?: Crime Scene Investigators, Detectives, Crime scene technicians, and police officers.

Note: *To attend you must be employed by a government agency/or military with the job responsibility of working a crime scene in either a sworn or civilian role.

Course Objective(s):

• Shooting reconstruction terminology
• Internal, external and Terminal ballistics
• Gunshot residue and range of fire determination
• Identifying, detecting, measuring and describing bullet marks
• Behavior of projectiles on varying surfaces to include drywall, wood, metal, plastic, glass, fabric, and concrete.
• Proper recording/documentation of bullet marks.
• Motor vehicles as a target surface
• Humans as a target surface
• Flight path reconstruction, description and documentation
• Report Writing - putting analysis and conclusions into words
• Courtroom testimony - explain/describe analysis and reconstruction
