Course Description:

Students will be trained to deploy their shields in an operation with great mobility, flexibility, and accuracy without risk of malfunctions to the weapon system. Students will learn to adjust and deploy the shield in any environment. Students will learn how to fix malfunctions with both hands and fight in an offensive mode with both weapon systems (Rifle and Side arm) while incorporating:

  • Standing
  • Kneeling
  • Prone
  • Movement drills
  • Multiple target drills
  • Vehicle assaults
  • Rescues
  • Team Movement drills

This will be an aggressive class incorporating physical and psychological interference built into movement, multiple targets, rescue, covert, dynamic, and team drills. No classroom training will be associated with this course, everything will be conducted on the shooting range.

Meet the Instructor: Mike Otte has 18 years of service with the Lakewood CO Police Department. While serving for the Lakewood Police Department Otte was involved in the following programs: SWAT, Master firearms instructor, K-9 handler and lead physical fitness instructor. Otte has seven years of service with the First Choice Armor/Diamondback Tactical group as the Vice President in the training division.

Otte has taught combat shield techniques with small arms to numerous agencies in: U.S., Canada, Mexico, Asia as well as European Law Enforcement, Federal and military groups.
